Holy ropes of provel - this place is a South City dream! I've never had a bad meal here. From pasta, to burgers, to appetizers, to St. Louis-style pizza - it's all good. Possibly my favorite thing to order is the french dip on garlic cheese bread (you'll pay a little extra for that option - worth every penny). In addition to that, the burgers are legit and the orders of pasta are gigantic. Also, you can't go wrong with a pizza here. I'm not a lover of sweet dressing, but their signature White French dressing is delicious playing off the salty, homemade croutons and cheese on the side salad. Don't expect much in the way of ambiance. That's not why you come to Biggies. It's straight up South City bar and grill style décor. The food is why you come and - trust me - you'll keep coming back.

Oh my God. How have I lived in the Lindenwood Park/North Hampton neighborhood for 4 years and never have tried Biggies until now? On Watson, across from El Pasiano, Biggies is easy to miss but hard to forget. It's the perfect place for a work lunch or those lazy Sunday nights you don't feel like cooking. Although not chic or out of the ordinary, the service is quality and there is a warm family-friendly atmosphere. Their pizza is so good and you MUST try the Biggies Salad with the white french dressing. To die for. My new found "Regular" status is not going anywhere with this one. I highly recommend Biggies.

Holy cow! Wowsa! Hell yeah!!! It has been almost a week since I ate that burger and I am sitting here writing a review...at 7 am...and craving one RIGHT NOW as I recall the experience. Sasha D - I owe you a beer! I read your Yelp review while waiting for my wife to arrive and your declaration that their burger was the best you've had in STL was all it took for me to decide what to have for lunch. I opted for the barbeque burger: big, beefy flavor cooked to perfection and topped with the kind of semi-spreadable cheddar cheese that you find in those little crocks in the grocery store (I am definitely stealing that idea), nicely sauteed onions, crunchy bacon and a sweet & sticky barbeque sauce. It looked like it was going to get messy when the waitress set it in front of me but it was the kind of messy that just hits the spot sometimes. Hard to find, old STL favorite, good service - blah, blah, blah - it was all about the burger for me!

Tried this place for the first time yesterday and it was really nice, my steak sandwich with garlic cheese bread was amazing, the fries were cooked a little too long for my taste but nevertheless still very tasty. Hubby thought his chicken sandwich was a little dry and the bottles of angry orchard were a little more expensive than what I usually pay $4.50/each. However, our waitress was really nice, attentive and the place was quiet and clean. I'm pretty sure we'll be back.

You want St. Louis? I mean this town in a little capsule? Head to Biggies. This is it. I can't think of another place that so perfectly represents old school St. Louis, lower-middle-class version. They get a bunch of things right, and a bunch of things wrong. There's definetly some price creep here - the prices are the same as new restaurants, but everything is old. I don't mean that in a horrible way, the ambience is ''seasoned" more than "dated" but for me it's kind of a pet peeve when they raise the prices without updating the restaurant. Our waitress was very obviously a long-time employee and she really worked hard to make sure everything was right. That said, she splattered the wine when she poured it for us, causing a drip on my wife's white pants, she brought out the wrong bottle of wine - Malbec instead of Chianti. The good news is we like Malbec. They also delivered the wrong pizza to one couple and undercooked another one, so it had to go back in the oven for a bit longer. For us, the food wasn't all that great either. I had a veal parmesan sandwich with fries. Loved the bread and fries, but the veal had a flat and clean-cut look like it might have come from a package. It was a very thin piece of meat and didn't have much taste. No way would I order it again. My wife had canneloni and it was just okay. The house salad was very good. I give extra credit for the "St. Louisness" of the place, if you know what I mean, and for the extreme friendliness of the staff. It was a fun place to be on a Saturday night, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I have been going to Biggies since I was a little girl. It's the neighborhood bar and grill and it never disappoints! The service is always friendly and the waitresses always remember the locals : ) From its homemade salad dressings to the pastas, the chicken dishes and the burgers...there are just too many yummy choices. If you get a burger or any sandwich, get the waffle fries!

Saturday only -The BEST ribs ever! I had them, again, today with delicious broccoli and a wonderful salad with their house dressing. Try them and you will not be disappointed!

First experience here was pretty good. Service was attentive and helpful. We sat inside, and it was a bit dark, but we made it work. Complimentary bread and butter were delicious. For lunch, I started with a cup of the chowder, which is offered on Fridays only. It was a decent size for a cup and on the thick side, but it was tasty and filled me up. Then my salad arrived. I didn't know about the famed White French dressing, so I tried creamy Italian, and that was awesome. Then my half portion of cavatelli in white sauce. The salad and half pasta were a lunch special for $8.50. If this is a half portion, I can't imagine what a whole looks like! After eating my cup of chowder and two pieces of bread, I only ate half my salad and 1/3 of my pasta. Everything was very good, and I look forward to having the rest for dinner as well as returning another time to try the soft cheddar burgers, veal parmesan sandwich, and steak sandwich on garlic cheese bread I've been hearing about.

I just moved into the area with The Boyfriend and we were looking for a good burger place nearby...hello, Biggie's. This is your typical bar-and-restaurant type of place where you can pop in wearing an old pair of jeans and a t-shirt and not be stared at. We were seated right away and our waitress was fantastic and really friendly. I also had my sister with me and while she complained that she was freezing (I do think she was sitting right next to a vent), I felt fine. We started with house salads with the homemade Creamy Italian dressing and I was blown away! I can't wait to go back so I can order this delicious salad with grilled chicken on top! The Boyfriend got the steak sandwich which was good, and my sister and I got cheeseburgers - delicious. The french fries were good, but nothing to jump up and down about. The portions were large so I had plenty to take home with me for lunch the next day. The only downside was that The Boyfriend found a hair on top of his french fries. Now it very well could have blown onto his plate when our waitress was bringing it to the table, but still - a hair in your food is gross. So when we told our waitress about it, she was very apologetic and took the food away. She immediately put in a new order and it was out right away. She had also offered to take it off the bill instead, but we opted to have them re-do the order. So that was nice that she was so accommodating about it. All in all, the bill wasn't expensive, the food was good and the service was great. Biggie's will definitely be seeing more of us.

Great food! I love the pizza, wings, waffle fries, & roast beef sandwich. The meatball sandwich is a little sweet for my liking but I know a lot of people like that. Service is good, lots of long time employees

Incredible strip steak! Did I mention an incredible strip steak? That is unfortunately where the love ends. Everything else about my experience here was sub-par. With exception of the price. It far exceeded my expectations, given the quality of both the food and atmosphere. The dining room smelled like a wet dirty bar mop. Not a pleasant odor while trying to eat. Their Caesar Salad tasted of nothing but garlic.. Garlic in a Caesar Salad. That was my dining companions. I tasted it out of curiosity. When it was delivered this wave of garlic hit me from across the table. You should take note that I am one for whom there is usually no such thing as too much garlic. The Bleu Cheese dressing on my dinner salad was kind of sweet. It lacked that savory taste that I was craving. My baked potato which I got fully loaded was pretty good. Right amount of cheese, sour cream, butter, and bacon. Deliciously crispy bacon too!. Had there only been this potato, and the strip steak. This could be a 3 or 4 star review.

I was a frequent customer at Biggie's when I lived in South City. I've had quite a few different sandwiches there. The poorboy was my favorite, but I also really liked the cod. Great waffle fries too! There's a bar/lounge area where it gets kind of smoky, but there's also a nicer dining area for families. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is it's a little higher priced for what you get. However, they have good drink specials if you're getting pitchers of beer, it's in a great location, and service is friendly. Try it out!

I met a friend for lunch but our original location didn't work out, so we tried to find someplace close. The billboard outside Biggies advertising their Tuesday daily special of beef stroganoff was the deciding factor (I love the dish), though the exterior of the restaurant did nothing to draw me (older looking & divey, not my typical haunt). The interior kept up the same theme - everything looks kind of old and worn, though very clean...including the bathrooms. It's a much larger menu than you would expect: Appetizers, Soups, Salads, Sandwiches, Entrees, and Pastas. I was pleasantly surprised the breaded cauliflower wasn't drowned in batter & you could taste the vegetable. The strogonoff was amazing, with large chunks of meat and a rich cream sauce. Service was fast and friendly. From what I was told, daily specials are always spot-on and I "have to come back for the fried chicken!" - 1/2 chicken & a side salad Tues: Beef Strogonoff Wed: Meatloaf w/ Mashed Potatoes & Corn or Prime Rib Thurs: Pork Steak or Fried Chicken Fri: Sole Parmesan or Pork Cutlet Sat: BBQ Ribs St. Louis Style or Baby Back Ribs Sun: Fried Chicken

Biggie's is a great little neighborhood place to go for dinner. The service is friendly and does a nice job. The atmosphere is a neighborhood bar with a restaurant attached. It is clean, and comfortable, but a little dark. The food at Biggie's is awesome. The burgers are juicy and flavorful. They make their own salad dressing (a white dressing with a great garlicy flavor) that they serve on a basic salad. They also have good steaks if you are in the mood.

The office went again, sans the vegetarian. We all got the strip steak . . . lucious steak, a little fatty on the outer rims, but isn't that what gives it flavor? The outside grill crustiness was divine, and the steaks were all done beautifully medium rare!! Salads were great . . .various dressings: creamy Italian, bleu cheese and the Biggie's White French (similar to Thousand Island). Sides: baked potato with sour cream was a massive missile of carbs, which he loved; I got lots of broccoli perfectly cooked, can't remember the other diner's side. I got a to-go vessel of the fried chicken dinner: $10 for half a chicken, and I got two sides instead of a side and a salad -- at the recommendation of our server. Evidently, Thursday and Sunday are fried chicken days! And I had that lovely specimen for dinner!!! Sadly, though, it was underseasoned . . . so, while crunchy and juicy, it was rather bland. Beyond that, I had a wonderful to-go vessel of half of my broccoli and more than half of my steak for another day! That salad was filling. Not to mention the bread! And I must mention that everybody is so nice here! Greeting you! Happy you're there! Fabulous service! Saying goodbye and come again! It's nice to know your patronage is appreciated!

Their food was great, but service left a bit to be desired. It seems like they were short staffed and I was the youngest person in there by at least 30 years. Judging by these other reviews, I really need to give this place another shot.

I've been several times since my last update. What amazes me, is how this is well above average pub grub. I still kick myself in the a** for not eating here sooner. Since my last review, I've done carryout twice and have been pleased with both. The first one was a pizza. I don't know about you all, but I love eating a pizza while watching the finale of The Biggest Loser. It just seems like the right thing to do. I ordered a medium sausage and peperoni plus a dinner salad with that infamous white french dressing. Experiencing the "white french" a second time left me with a more favorable impression then my first dining experience. Their pizza is St Louis Style with the thin crust, cut into tiny squares. Toppings were plentiful and an even mix of both choices. Their cheese fooled me. While eating I didn't think it was provel, I think with the combination of flavorful sauce and my topping it confused me. My next carryout was a full rack of ribs on a Saturday night and a large Caesar Salad. Both were top notch. Their ribs are the meatiest ribs I have ever seen. Pappy's and Bogarts ribs do not come close to this much meat. The Cesar was huge and a typical "Hill" Caesar. We did Baked Potatoes at home and had a fantastic dinner. When I picked up the ribs is when I discovered they use provel on the pizza. I asked one of the servers and she very proudly answered provel. Oh well, it still tasted good and I'll eat it again. Earlier this week Brad and I stopped in for lunch. The weather was great so we opted to take advantage of their outside seating. It's not a patio, it just out on the sidewalk, but you're outside. We ordered burgers. I choose pepper cheese and traditional fries and Brad had Soft Cheddar and Waffle Fries. Both burgers were grilled well, not well in temperature. My pepper cheese melted better then his soft cheddar. They'd be off offering true cheddar instead of that scoop-able cheese. Loved my traditional fries, but the extra seasoning on the Waffle Fries was a surprise bonus. The wait staff here is always friendly, giving it that neighborhood & family feeling. When I'm lazy, or can't think where to go, Biggies will be the first to come to mind.

I always have a good meal when I go to Biggies! The steak sandwiches are delish! All the food is hot and fresh when it arrives to your table. I will definitely be going back soon!

Food = EXCELLENT! I'm not a huge fan of the dive-bar atmosphere, but the food is way, way worth it. We live down the street too, so this is definitely one of our regular weeknight places. You won't find a better steak sandwich anywhere -- and SALAD ... I'm not one of those kinds of girls that eats salads when I go out to dinner, but they serve it to you in a mixing bowl and trust me... any of them are worth trying at least once. You'll be hooked.

Lunch with the husband and coworker today. Coworker picked it because its a family favorite. Even though I am having Italian for dinner (Filippo's UYE - YUM!) I decide to order half pasta and salad. The mostaccioli with meat sauce was perfectly cooked - the sauce was yummy. Full of meat and just sweet enough for my taste. The bread service was sliced italian bread and real butter - the bread was served cold and the butter was a little too cold, but still very tasty. Who doesn't love bread with sesame seeds?!?! The real standout though was the salad dressing - it was called white french dressing. They make it there. Couldn't really tell what was in it, but another yelper compared it to thousand island so we'll go with that... Solid choice and I will definitely go back. Its worth mentioning that my coworker has a few things that he usually orders at all of his favorite places. Usually I just get whatever he orders to avoid food envy - today he ordered what my husband ordered (BBQ burger with cheese and grilled onions) and said it might be the best thing he has eaten there. Felt like a win to me, even though I wasn't the one to convert him.

Delicious food and friendly service every time! We live a few streets away and walking to the restaurant to either get great food or to have a cocktail is wonderful! In the summer you can sit outside. I highly suggest the pizza, steak sandwich, or the chicken parm sandwich on garlic cheese bread!

Biggie's, Biggie's, Biggie's, can't you see sometimes your burgers just hypnotize me. Oh man. I don't even know what to say. All the sounds that came out of my mouth while eating here weren't even words. The bf seriously asked me if I was going to have a foodgasm while I was chowing down. I ordered a bbq burger($8.50) with soft cheddar and grilled onions. It came on a bakery bun but I was offered it on garlic bread if I had wanted. I also substituted waffle fries for and additional 75 cents. The bf ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with pickles, lettuce, and tomato. It also came on a bakery bun but he was given the same choice of garlic bread. He played it healthy and ordered cottage cheese with his sandwich. I didn't taste the chicken but the bf said it was good. My burger was freakin' fantastic. Seriously. The best burger I've had in St. Louis. Big, juicy, cooked well done as I had requested. The grilled onions complemented the char-grilled flavor and the bbq sauce. The soft cheddar oozed out of the sides. So tasty. Then to top it off the waffle fries were, again, the best I've had in St. Louis. Maybe anywhere. The were seasoned well but didn't taste too salty. They had a nice texture and an awesome flavor. Our waitress was awesome. Friendly with some flair. She was helpful, attentive, and knew the menu and options well. We sat on the "patio" (tables outside of the building) so I can't speak of the ambiance but the weather was great. We will mos def be back and I'll be recommending Biggie's to anyone looking for a good burger.

It's about to go down, my Uncle Tyrone is the best Chef in "The Lou" and can't wait to get at his infamous Mustard Wings, Toasted Ravioli, Biggies Salad, and the Deluxe Pizza that would make IMO's hide their face (sorry IMO's)

Heard a plug for Biggies on KMOX radio and it sounded really good. So when my husband asked where I wanted to eat today, I said Biggies. It was a twenty minute drive for us but it was well worth it. Glad we went early. Parking is a bit of a problem but it was a nice evening for a short walk. The place I am sure looks the same as when they first opened their doors. They were busy but had lots of friendly staff on. I had the special chicken cordon bleu and my husband had the veal Parmesan. Both were very good and the price was right in line. Can't wait to go back and try something else.

Food was typical of a good Italian restaurant in St. Louis. I had the tortellini and it was fine as was the side salad. What I noticed that turned me off to the place was the filthy pictures on the wall. Food smears, dust, and whatever on walls of pictures does not make for a clean environment that I want to be in. The place was packed and is very popular.

We've been here for dinner three times now, and each time our orders were wrong. Food quality is OK; I think their entrees are a little overpriced for the quality. Their red sauce is very sweet, which I don't love. The servers are very sweet, but always seem a bit slammed; even when there's not many guests eating dinner. I do appreciate the vintage-feel of the bar area; I'd be happy to have a drink and watch a game in there.

Lots of photos on wall. Kinda reminds me of a sports pub without the TVs or obnoxious noise level. Really good veal Parmesan sandwich on gooey cheesy garlic bread. I liked that it came out as 2cultets it "fit" the sandwich better. Good garlic flavor. this was great veal. I had cavatelli with Garlicy white sauce this was excellent! Pasta al dente sauce was perfect! This is a lot better than a lot of traditional Italian restaurants. The service was present but not obnoxious about it.

I really enjoy this place. They have the best garlic cheese bread steak I've ever had. I order take out and sit in the restaurant at times and everything I have ever ordered has been spot on.

We decided to eat outside on a beautiful sunday afternoon to do soak in some people watching. Service was a little slower than we typically like. We had to flag down someone nearly every time we needed something. The food was pretty average, but we were starving so we liked it. The creamy italian dressing was really good on the simple salad, and the pizza is the typical thin crust, provel covered kind you can find just about anywhere around town. We also had one of their sandwiches. While the meat was good the bread was a little tougher than we like. Overall it was a decent lunch, if in the neighborhood.

This is our new favorite neighborhood place. So far all the food ive tried is amazing, and the portions are large. Definitely have their toasted ravioli, and their steak sandwich (it comes on cheese garlic bread).....this is also a great place to watch a game. Budweiser drafts are 1.75, and they have some decent bottle beers available as well.

This is what I miss the most since moving to Chicago 9 years ago. I make a stop in no matter what ever time I visit. Everything on the menu is delicious! I am always surprised that people can still smoke in restaurants in St. Louis, but it is possible to gt away form the smoke. nly downside is that the dining room is dark and dingy. But I don't go there for the atmosphere...this place is about the food!
